How Does It Work?
CipherPost™ and CipherPost Pro™ protect your messages even when a secure connection like TLS isn't available. If you do have TLS, AppRiver's CipherPost products provide an additional layer of security with true end-to-end encryption.
FAQ's
Do my customers need to purchase encryption from AppRiver to receive encrypted email from me?
No, your customers will use the Zero-Download Messenger (ZDM) or they can download the read-only plug-in if they have Outlook.
What if some of our users don’t have Outlook? Can they send secure messages?
Users who don’t have Outlook can also use the ZDM, which allows them to send secure mail from their browser.
If we use the Web portal to send and reply to encrypted messages, how do we get a copy of those encrypted messages for archiving and record keeping?
With the ZDM there is an option to “copy me” on emails that allows you to save a copy to your own server.
Will email be automatically encrypted if we send out secure information, or must we manually encrypt it?
Though CipherPost does not work ‘automatically,’ just one click of the “Send Secure” button in Outlook is the only action necessary to encrypt and send a message.
Does the recipient always have to log in to read the message or will it open in their inbox once they have registered?
If the recipient has Outlook, they can download a plug-in that allows them choose to have messages decrypted automatically when they arrive or upon opening. Those without Outlook must read encrypted emails through the ZDM.
If the recipient forwards an encrypted message, will it remain encrypted?
Yes. Once an email has been encrypted, the entire thread will continue to be encrypted.
Is there a limit to the number of encrypted emails I can send per month?
No.
Is there a way to set it to encrypt all emails to certain recipients?
Currently, no.
When I send a secure email through CipherPost, does an unencrypted copy remain on the mail server?
No. Only the key is on the server. Once the recipient authenticates his or her identity to the server, the key is then sent. With CiperPost, secure messages remain encrypted from the sender’s mailbox all the way to the recipient’s.
Does your encryption product come with reporting features?
Not at this time.
Can you encrypt imbedded images in your emails?
No, images must be attached.
