The Area: Software Developement

The Role: Junior Software Development Project Coordinator
The Junior Software Development Project Coordinator reports to the Product Development Manager and is directed by the Managers of Software Development. The coordinator will collaborate with the team leads and Software “Owner” and mostly work with a lot of nerds, some of whom do not speak human very well. On a daily basis you will assist with project administration, monitor and report development progress, document and communicate software design decisions, provide support with sprint planning, and enable the coordination of work between Development, Testing, Training and other departments. This is a non-exempt, administrative position.
What you MUST have:
- Top notch documentation skills
- Highly adept with MS Office sortware, including Excel
- Ability to speak both “tech” and “business”
- You must be able to talk about complicated topics patiently and effectively
- Analytical thinking and the ability to multi-task between competing demands
- Strong sense of responsibility and collaboration
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Be organized and structured, and detail oriented in work
- Organize data for status reports and presentations
- Able to use project management tools
- An affinity for process, with a tolerance for anomalies and the patience to address them
- Build strong relationships with staff and facilitate communication
What experience you need:
Experience with any of this is a plus, but demonstrating your ability to CLEARLY document and communicate will be more important than experience
What you would do on a daily basis:
- Facilitate the administration of paperwork involved with project management and development workflow systems.
- Create, organize and maintain clear and concise project plans, roadmaps and project documents.
- Work alongside developers and gain intimate knowledge of the software, developers, development lifecycle, types of tasks.
- Communicate progress, roadblocks, changes in schedule or roadmap to the Product Development Manager.
- Identify “stray work” that deviates too much from business objectives and priorities or is hidden from resource usage considerations.
- Prepare for and participate in sprint planning.
- Organize documents and data for work request planning.
- Provide quick impact assessment for resource allocation and schedule changes.
- Take, categorize, organize and disseminate meeting notes – follow up on action items.
- Participate in creating time estimates and planning deliverables.
- Coordinate feedback from teams to/from stakeholders.
- Follow up internally to resolve urgent requests.
- Balance multiple priorities consistently.
- Confer and review all facts with Product Development Manager and Managers of Software Development.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiar with bug tracking and version control tools
- Understanding of software development process
- SharePoint Calendar
- Compile and Maintain reports
